A lifelong learner and student of the classics, JP’s academic foundation is built on his undergraduate degree in Philosophy. In that spirit, and ever searching for deeper and more complex relationships with those around him and the universe, JP pursued and earned his master’s degree in theology (MTS) from Providence College. Using the unique skills he acquired from his education, coupled with the pragmatic lessons of a life in long-term recovery, JP went to work at Open Doors as a program director, counselor, pre-release planner and an advocate for felony offenders both inside and outside of Rhode Island’s Adult Correctional Institution. In addition to his day job, JP taught at Roger William’s University as an Adjunct Associate Professor and has held several positions in the community as a board member or member-at-large for various public and private institutions.
As a part of the recovery community, JP knows, all too well, that while second chances are hard to come by, they are often life-changing and in very many ways, Ocean State Recovery has afforded JP a second chance. As a member of the Ocean State team, JP works primarily as a case manager and occasionally as a group facilitator, bringing experience as an educator and a vast knowledge of connecting people with resources to the ORSC team. JP is both a student of life and the Classics, and as such, always brings a unique perspective to everyday discussions and thoroughly enjoys helping people and solving intricate problems.
