Partial Hospitalization, also known as “Day Treatment” consists of 25 to 30 hours of clinical and medical services each week. At Ocean State Recovery center, Day Treatment runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Patients typically engage in the Day Treatment phase for 4 to 6 weeks depending on their progress toward treatment goals.
Entering Day Treatment Program
Many patients enter the Day Treatment phase after a stay in a Detox or Residential treatment program in Rhode Island. During this time, many patients will utilize FMLA or Short Term Disability to extend time away from work to focus on treatment and their recovery. This is a crucial phase in the treatment process as it is used not only to stabilize patients in a highly structured and safe environment but also to begin the process of building a community support network.
Patients will either reside at home or in a sober living environment while in Day treatment, which allows them to begin integrating into other community self-help groups such as AA, NA, or Smart Recovery while in treatment.
Typical Day in PHP
A typical day will consist of 3 to 4 clinical groups, individual therapy, visits with our prescriber, and case management services. While focusing on the underlying causes of their addiction, patients will learn to identify their triggers and practice new coping skills to maintain their recovery.
With the help of a diverse and in-depth curriculum, patients receive an individualized and holistic treatment plan that caters to their specific needs. During this time, patients also have the opportunity to be in treatment by individuals that are both earlier on in their recovery process as well as those with more time and experience. This allows for a dynamic group process that encourages patients to learn from and support one another.
Our Day Treatment Professionals
The delivery of Day Treatment services is provided by highly trained clinical and medical professionals local to Rhode Island. Each patient is assigned a Licensed primary therapist, a case manager, and a recovery support specialist. Along with the clinical team, patients also have access to a board-certified medical director and weekly appointments with a Nurse Practitioner to address any medical or prescribing needs.
Family Therapy in Day Treatment
Another important element in Day Treatment is family therapy. Having loved ones who understand addiction and the treatment process can play a huge role in supporting individuals going through treatment. Our clinicians specialize in integrating the family into the treatment process through individual family sessions as well as during a bi-weekly family support group. This service is included for all families and loved ones of a current patient at Ocean State Recovery Center.
As patients progress through the Day Treatment program at Ocean State Recovery Center, they gain the insight and tools necessary to begin getting back to their normal lives and schedules. After completing this level of care, most patients are stable enough to get back to work, school, as well as their family and social lives.
